It’s more fun in the Philippines!

Philippines got a great breakfast this morning – a fresh and new tourism slogan. It’s a perfect way to open 2012! From now on, Pilipinas Kay Ganda/Pilipinas, Tara Na is out of the scene. Madlang people of the Philippines, our tourism slogan is now…

The Department of Tourism’s collab project with BBDO is making waves and creating buzz online. #ItsMoreFuninthePhilippines and #1ForFun is now trending on Twitter! My timeline has been flooded with witty tweets (and a few bitchy remarks on the side) about it. I say, good job DOT! I’ve been also contributing to the hashtag madness. Here are some of the reasons/things that I came up with (and some people, too) as to why it’s more fun in the Philippines:

6 (sometimes 5) in 1 Beer Bucket - In other countries, one beer bottle costs around $6. In the Philippines, you can get one bottle for less than a buck. That is why, Filipinos can drink all day and night.

Lechon - Whoever says that lechon sucks should be locked up inside a room full of crazy and enraged ducks. Lechon is the second greatest invention of man, next to bacon. Lechon is made of pure awesome, that pigs offer their life to satisfy millions of hungry tummies during the holidays, birthdays, inumans, and whatever celebration you can think of. Lechon is love <3

Crossing the road – I love how MMDA peppered the whole metro with huge signboards that say WALANG TAWIRAN, NAKAMAMATAY and BAWAL TUMAWID, MAY NAMATAY NA DITO. Only in the Philippines will you feel such great concern from the government, so that people won’t die from jaywalking.

Jejemon – (I initially placed Rap Supahstahs. Felt like it didn’t fit lol) We all know what a jejemon is, and that LiL’ ZupLadO is one of the jejegods that established the cult. Look, he even became Candy Cutie of the week!

Food Stalls – Our country offers a lot of yummy-to-the-tummy food, and makes it more delicious by adding a kick of creativity. I’d like to believe that most Filipinos are right brain thinkers.

Breakfast food - We all crave for sausages, waffles, and Eggs Benedict from time to time but admit it, we have a special place for tapsilog, cornsilog, hotsilog, tosilog, longsilog, and whatever-silog in our hearts.

Taho - A dessert that can alternate as breakfast. Just because it’s more fun if food has dual purpose.

Petshops - Sometimes, Filipinos are so literal that it’s just downright hilarious. Pussies & Bitches? Oh come on, it’s the perfect place to beautify your pet!

Planking - We’re not as dangerous as Australians (or was it Americans?) when it comes to planking, but we’re hardcore when it comes to creative planking. (Props to my friend, Marv, for pulling this off!) Kahit saan, basta maka-plank!

TV Series - Move aside Friends, Gilmore Girls, and Seinfeld! Daisy Siete is real deal in the history of TV series. Saan ka ba naman nakakita ng series na may 26 seasons?? Lahat na rin ng themes, na-execute na nila- mapa-horror, love story, comedy.. pati Japanese nagawa na nila! LUPIT.

Trolling - Filipinos enjoy laughing through the good times and the bad. Here are videos to prove it!

Jokes aside, Philippines is an awesome place to visit. We have beaches with blue waters and fine white sand, overly-friendly citizens, and an interesting culture. It’s really more fun here in the Philippines! Drop us a visit and you’ll agree with me.
